Password Protection within MBAM Premium

Recommended Posts

At some point in time of the past several years I had placed a password on my MBAM Premium and now cannot remember it nor remove it using  "MBAM Cleaner" even removing and installing an updated version.  That password remains . . any ideas?

OK, I got some additional information for you.  The password is stored within one of our config files located under C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes.  Once you run the latest version of MB-Clean which can be downloaded from here, simply cancel the installation of Malwarebytes 3 that it offers to do for you and then verify that the entire Malwarebytes folder has been removed from C:\ProgramData and if it has not, please let us know as that would be a bug with the tool that I'll need to report.  If it has been removed or if you have deleted the folder by hand, you should then be able to reinstall Malwarebytes 3 and the password protection over settings should now be gone.

exile360,

Excuse me for being a bit late in getting back to you on this issue.  Have done the "MB-Clean" and it did not offer to install MBAM 3 was run with Admin Privileges.  The C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes folder is still there, but; the subfolders (about 5 or 6 of them) are gone.  Do you wish to receive the "MB-Clean-Resulrts.txt" file?

Some adjustments to the above message, "MB-Clean" was run as Admin.  Yet the files are still there.  There sere nine (9) subfolders, of C:\Malwarebytes\MBAMService that were removed.  With the files in folder MBAMService remaining.  I did remove the folder C:\Malwarebytes and did the reinstall of my Premium Copy of MBAM and the password was removed.  Thank you for the instructions and hope what I have been able to provide gives you some HELP. Do you wish to receive the "MB-Clean-Resulrts.txt" file?  I still have that copy after the removal if you wish to have said file.

Issue solved and back to normal, if I am ever normal?

Excellent, I'm glad that it finally worked.  No, we don't need the log file now as long as the password was removed.  I'll inform the team of your findings (that the folder and files remained, though the sub-folders were removed) and that should be enough to assist in their investigations into the potential issue.

"exile360,"

I make every effort to NOT send information that is not needed, that is why that question was asked.  If NOT needed nor requested by someone on your end it will not be sent.

Thank you for the assistance along with reading my messages

Sure, totally understandable.  If they do require the logs, they'll return here and request them.  For the time being, I did report your findings as I stated above so hopefully they'll be able to figure out what the issue was that caused it and be able to replicate it on one of our test systems so that they may troubleshoot the issue further and hopefully get it corrected.

Thanks again for your help in reporting this issue and please don't hesitate to let us know if you need assistance with anything in the future.
