Window freezing

Hello,

I'm rather new to these forums, recently my computers keeps freezing I've tried reinstalling all drivers but its still happening is there a way to check whats wrong with the PC or should i just bring the PC to the hardware shop to check? Or am i doing something wrong?

Would love for any help or advice if possible. The computer just freezes randomly. screens stays as it is but it freezes then after a few minutes it restarts the PC. I'm happy to provide any require information to check.

  • Create and obtain Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) logs
    1. Download FRST and save it to your desktop
      Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
    2. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
    3. Press the "Scan" button
    4. This will produce two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
      • Attach both of these logs to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the files to the attachment area

Hey Porthos, 

I only ran windowdefender, ccleaner and malwarebytes. I think it should have removed most of bytefence software?

I'm running the extended self-test will prob leave the computer on over night as it is getting late here. will check back tomorrow.

I can't remember how long did i have this computer, i'm thinking >5 years. maybe 8 years or so ? I think it broke down twice and i took it to a repair shop then.

I actually just tried cleaning the insides yesterday so hopefully that was all. I don't do it very often though.

  • Psss count. Type the number of times you want to repeat the test. Repeat 5 times it needs to really stress it. It will take a long time.

Hi Porthos,

Okay it seems to be having an issue when i tried the above. Tried 4 times, all 4 times was not successful. Computer turns off at around 20 - 30 % when i did Extended + 5 times. Would this confirm that its a ram issue?

What cause of action should i be taking if its so? replace the ram? Or would there be other checks to confirm that my ram is the one with the issue?

Thank you again for your input but this user is already using Windows 10. Upgrading from a previous version of Windows to Windows 10 if you're having issues though is NOT recommended. That will bring those problems into Windows 10 and possibly make it even harder to fix.

Difficult to say for sure. There are no BSOD crashes shown via a dump file so it could be overheating. The system does need some repair work, but with it rebooting that might be a futile effort until you figure out what is causing the reboot.

Check the temperature of your system and see if maybe that is the cause.
