False Positive or Real?

Recommended Posts

Hi

A little earlier today I turned on my sons Windows 7 Desktop to do a few updates. He works away a lot no, so the computer isn't used as much anymore. It hadn't been turned on for about 8 days.

After booting up the computer and checking if there were any Windows Updates, I opened Malwarebytes FREE with the intention of checking if there were any updates for that. I got a bit of a shock. Because MB Free was scanning a full Threat Scan all by itself. I had not clicked for it to scan. At the end of the scan another shock. MB Free had found a list of PUPs. Now had I ran the scan myself and had the computer been getting used much by my son, I probably would have clicked to Quarantine. But because I can't understand how MB Free was scanning in the first place. Plus the fact that our computers have never had any problems with malware before. Gut instinct told me to click - Cancel

Now I really don't know if I've done the right thing or not :(

This is what MB Free found with the scan I never initiated...

Please can someone give me some advice!

Is this a False Positive or Real?

And how did MB Free start a scan all by itself?

Thanks In Advance!

Likely real. These appear to be search redirectors that probably lead to adware sites. In many cases, these are just nuisance sites, but their reputation is not good, and they may harbor malvertising links. MBAM did what it should. If you don't recognize them as intentionally installed tools, these should be removed.
