Malwarebytes 3.2 is not installing

Recommended Posts

Last night I got the notice on my Malwarebytes program that said new version available. I downloaded the new version, and clicked install, and it said we need to restart your computer to finish install. I clicked restart and it restarted. It then opened the install shield again and went through the same thing repeatedly, never installing the program just asking to restart to complete. Please help.

Thanks,

Jason

Please help.

Hello,

Can you please try this:

1. Download the latest MB 3 installer from : https://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/mb3
2. Run the installer on top of your existing product. (Note you don't have to uninstall anything, just run the installer again)

Can you let me know if that worked?

·  Create and obtain Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) logs

  1. Download FRST and save it to your desktop
Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
  2. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
  3. Press the "Scan" button
  4. This will product two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
    • Leave the log files in the current location, they will be automatically collected by mb-check once you complete the next set of instructions

·  Create and obtain an mb-check log

  1. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
  2. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, press "Enter" to accept the EULA then click "OK"
  3. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
    • This file will include the FRST logs generated from the previous set of instructions
    • Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area

There are also some policies on your browsers and the MB-Check tool did not create a zip with all the files we normally grab to check on issues.

Can you temporarily uninstall your Avast antivirus. Windows 10 has good built-in antivirus so you'll still be protected with Avast removed temporarily.

Then run the following for me.

Please download the attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop.
NOTE. It's important that both files, FRST or FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on this particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system.

Run FRST or FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
If the tool needs a restart please make sure you let the system restart normally and let the tool complete its run after restart.
The tool will make a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please attach or post it to your next reply.

Note: If the tool warned you about an outdated version please download and run the updated version.

fixlist.txt

Then the computer should reboot. If not, then reboot on your own and try to manually reinstall Malwarebytes again and let me know how it goes.

Thank you

Ron
