New Malwarebytes update deletes MBAM service

I had been running Malwarebytes 3.1.2 Premium. Malwarebytes informed me of an update, and when I clicked on the update button it installed. It then gave me the error message that the Malwarebytes service (MBAM) could not be deleted. I rebooted as it suggested, and then Malwarebytes would not load on startup. I checked, and the MBAM service is no longer listed, and it says the program cannot be started. So what now? This is not how software updates are supposed to work.

Sorry to hear you're having issues with a recent update. Let's go ahead then and do a clean removal and reinstall the software and see if that corrects the issue for you.

Thanks for getting back to me quickly Ron. I cannot do a reinstall because I did not deactivate the program prior to hitting the install button. Since I can't start Malwarebytes (both services are missing) I can't deactivate the program. That would mean that after reinstalling it would tell me I need to purchase the program again. Any other options? I would need to have my account given another activation before I could try a reinstall.

It's okay. At this point there isn't much else we can do except fix the program. As for licensing, if there is an issue and it won't activate then send me a private message with your purchase information as well as your license information and I'll have our licensing team take a look at correcting it if needed.
