Update was a disaster

Recommended Posts

Received notice new update available. Clicked on the update option. During the update something flashed up that Malwarebytes folder already exists, use anyway or something similar. I confirmed. All the normal questions were asked such as desktop shortcut, etc. Then stated after installation that computer needs to restart. When computer restarted Malwarebytes was GONE. The Malwarebytes folder was completely empty. I have a lifetime membership, and the weird thing is that when I downloaded a new copy and restarted the computer my ID and credentials are there, but all of my settings: scan schedules, exclusions, etc. are GONE.

Hello @alexdog95

From your logs it looks like an older product installed was not removed properly and the installer ran mb-clean internally. This unfortunately wiped out any of the previous settings/Scan schedules/exclusions etc.

We are tracking a defect on our end where the Program upgrade does not continue installation after reboot due to a registry key.

Unfortunately for now there is no way to recover your old settings since they were removed by the mb-clean tool.

The mb-check log indicates 3.2.2 is running cleanly now and all the protection layers are on.

Apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing.

Thank you.
