I have Malwarebyte version I get pop-up notifications all the time saying that "a new and better version of Malwarebytes is availiable - download now".

When I try to download, everything freezes - nothing is responding, not even ctrl+alt+del - so then I have to force a reboot by holding down the powerbutton a couple of seconds.

The same complete freeze happens in all these instances:

  1. when I click the "download update" button in the pop-up notification,
  2. when I click the "download now" button inside the Malwarebytes program
  3. when I try to uninstall Malwarebytes using the windows settings/apps/uninstall button
  4. when I try to install version 3.2 (by attempting to run the downloaded .exe installer file).

  1. Download FRST and save it to your desktop
NOTE: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
  2. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
  3. Press the "Scan" button
  4. This will produce two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
These two files will be collected by the MB-Check Tool and added to the zip file for you
  1. Create and obtain an mb-check log
  1. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
  2. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, then click "OK"
  3. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
  4. Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area
