High memory usage, even with real-time protection off

Recommended Posts

Hello

I'm on a free trial and am noticing that Malwarebytes is using just over 1 GB of memory. This is more than my Mac's kernel task. Is that normal? I'd like to buy the protection, am just unsure regarding this issue. Since I have 8GB of Ram, I should be ok I guess, but I'm noticing the fan on my Mac running high at times due to this. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Clef,

I had the same issue using Malwarebytes on a French Mac running El Capitan, only worse: the daemon was using 600MB of memory after only 2 hours of use, and rising!

Here's what I did: 1) Deactivate RealTime protection 2) Kill the daemon via Activity Monitor.

The deamon relaunched immediately, but it's been using between 53 Mb and 63 Mb of memory ever since.
