"Unable to Connect to Service" error

Recommended Posts

Right so I'm not sure when this started but it was quite a while ago. I followed instructions on the forums and went to services.msc. Malwarebytes was running and set to automatic so I stopped the application running and the started it again. This would make Malwarebytes run but once I restart the laptop the service stops working again so I have to continually go to services.msc to keep restarting it.

I have the premium home subscription
Windows 10 Home 64bit
8GB ram
i7 processor

Can someone suggest what I need to do to permanently fix this issue? My subscription renews in a month so if its not fixed I will not be renewing.

Thank you

  1. Create and obtain Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) logs
  1. Download FRST and save it to your desktop
NOTE: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
  2. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
  3. Press the "Scan" button
  4. This will produce two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
    NOTE:
These two files will be collected by the MB-Check Tool and added to the zip file for you
  1. Create and obtain an mb-check log
  1. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
  2. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, then click "OK"
  3. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
  4. Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area

:welcome:    Hello TeejPatel,

First, know that this is curable.   Please be sure to provide the reports   ( as listed above).   That will provide needed detail to help you along.

Second, you said this started some time back.  Can you recall if this happened after a upgrade notice ?   Can you recall what older prior versions of Malwarebytes programs have been on this machine?

I believe it was after an upgrade but can't be certain.

Antivirus by F-Secure

There's a known issue with MB3 and F-Secure. To fix this, go into F-Secure settings to the following page and click the exclusions link at the bottom. Then add C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-malware to the exclusions. Then restart and your issue should be resolved
