Unable to install v. 3.0 on OS X

Ahh, that makes sense. I'm not sure why Apple took away our ability to repair permissions manually via Disk Utility. Permissions issues haven't gone away, and whatever automated permissions repair is supposed to be in place doesn't always work.

I'm glad you solved it, and thanks for letting us know!

Hi Thomas,

a 3rd party tool like OnyX still allows to repair permissions on demand if the automated repair fails.

Install 3.0.0.0 not working here, and not sure how to apply (if possible) above 'fix' ?

MacBook Pro
OS X El Capitan
Version 10.11.6 ('About This Mac' > 'Software Update' shows no update)

Mbam Popup...
A new version of Malwarebytes is available - you have 1.2.6.
Would you like to download now?

Release Notes:
Malwarebytes 3.0.0.0 is now available - you currently
Malwarebytes 3.0 for Mac provides amazing improvements, such as real-time protection and a greatly improved interface. In order to install, you will need to manually download the new version from our website and install it.
To get more information and download the Malwarebytes 3.0 installer, go to the following link in your web browser:
https://malwarebytes.com/mac

We go to link and download Malwarebytes-3.0.2.422.dmg.

After 'install' and also restart Mac (just to chk both routes) 'About Malwarebytes' still shows older version after each.

Thoughts?

"Malwarebytes for Mac" v3.0 does not replace your older "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac" 1.2.6 application, so you should see both in your Applications folder now. You might want to keep the older version for a little while to evaluate the newer version, or you can just drag "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac" to the trash now.

Thanks for the info !
As you said, both versions are in the 'applications' folder.
The  Vers3 'update' seemed like it included a '30day free trial $upgrade'... if we dont want the free trail version, do we need to delete Vers3 from the folder and Mbam will go back to the  Mac 1.2.6  version.
Or is there an 'update' along with the 'free trial $upgrade' and we just dont choose to continue it but any update to Mac 1.2.6 will still take effect ?
Hope that makes sense, and thanks again for the help.

After the 30-day trial, the new Real-Time Protection feature will be disabled unless you pay for the upgrade, but the application itself will continue to function as effectively or better than 1.2.6 is today. As long as 3.0.2 is working for you there will be no reason to revert to 1.2.6.

Malwarebytes has said that there will be one more update to Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac to v1.3, but nothing after that.
