Unable to start and uninstall malwarebytes

Recommended Posts

:welcome:

Please advise, when was the last time that Malwarebytes was installed ?

When did it first happen that you could not run Malwarebytes?

You only sent 1 of the 2 report files.    And I do need for you to run one other report tool.

This report tool will collect some information on the installation of Malwarebytes and create a report I need to review:

Please close all open work programs and save your work.  Let's please have all open user programs closed so that you see a cleared up view to the Desktop.

Please download our diagnostic tool, MB-Check to your Desktop from this link

Double-click it to run it.  After the tool has finished, you will see a message appear telling you to locate the zipped log files.

A zip file named mb-check-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop.

Please attach the ZIP file to your next reply.

The logs will help us determine if the all the necessary Malwarebytes files are installed and confirm that all of our services are running.

I do notice that this pc also has Bitdefender. It needs to be adjusted so that it treats Malwarebytes as a trusted application.

Click the Modules button on the main screen of BitDefender.
This takes you to the Protection tab.  Click the gear-icon for Antivirus.
You will have a new window with 3 tabs named across the top.  Click the one marked Exclusions
Next click the blue line marked Excluded processes
You ought to see about having the EXE files of Malwarebytes listed there and showing action of Allow.
Use the attached image as a guide.  You would need to ADD each EXE one at a time.     When done press Close.
These are the other Malwarebytes Premium files that need to be added to the BitDefender  exclusions list:

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\Mbam.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\MbamPt.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\assistant.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\MBAMWsc.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\mbamtray.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\MBAMService.exe

Once that is done, I would suggest that you Reboot the machine.
