Hello,

I believe a virus is preventing some programs on my windows 10 pc from connecting to the internet. I first noticed an issue while trying to figure out why a program wasn't connecting to the internet. Then a while later i went to use my task manager and it opened and then immediately closed. Some searching let me know I had a virus. I launched MB but received a message saying it couldn't connect to the service. Its been a while since I ran it so i know its out of date. However I uninstalled it and downloaded a new copy using this tool https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb_clean and did a fresh install and ran into the exact same issue.

Apparently the virus I have is preventing MB from updating. Is it possible to get a complete copy of the program that does not require an update before it will function?

I downloaded spybot s&d and it also failed to update and wouldn't work so i restarted the PC in safe mode and MB failed to work but Spybot updated and it found and supposedly cleaned a bunch of stuff. However even after the scan MB still isn't working in safe mode or in normal mode. I really like MB and i'd love to use it to scan my pc but i have to admit its pretty annoying doing a fresh download and install still requires an update before you can scan. The virus is still on my pc and i have way more confidence in MB getting rid of it than any other anti virus I know of. Although if anyone could recommend me one that might work i'd be happy to try it.

Is there a way I can get an updated copy of MB that I can just download and run? Or maybe some other reputable virus removal software that keeps their files up to date?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

I ran that program and it found something but MB still couldn't connect to the service so I ran rkill and it stopped 2 processes.

 * C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\ntuserlitelist\svcvmx\svcvmx.exe (PID: 8096) [UP-HEUR]
 * C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\yquvom\lfnqfo\ct.exe (PID: 8116) [UP-HEUR]

The system-log txt  is from mbar

system-log.txt

So i ran the MB Clean tool again and once it reinstalled it works!!!!

Thanks for the help. I'm running the scan now.
