How do I uninstall 3.0 on Sierra 10.12.4

I'm scared about a product that locks me in like Malwarebytes does right now...

Here is how I uninstalled (confirm each step with your account login):

- Delete app from Programs folder

- open Macintosh HD:Library:LaunchAgents folder and delete all files containing ".malwarebytes." in the name (several .plist entries)

- open Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support and delete folder "Malwarebytes"

- restart Mac

Yes, that will be fixed in a release in less than a month. We're putting the uninstaller back inside the app, so you can uninstall more easily when needed.

Would like to ask when this update will be pushed? Will I be able to use the current installer to uninstall Malwarebytes?

Thanks.

To uninstall, see:

https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-1928

That includes a link to the uninstaller for Malwarebytes for Mac 3.0, now that 3.1 is out and the uninstaller is no longer being distributed along with the installer.

By the way, I should point out here that some of the comments about the Premium trial may be the result of misunderstandings. Note that the software is still free. The trial is a trial of the real-time protection functionality. Malwarebytes for Mac will still allow manual scans and removal of threats for free.

Dear Treed,

I could not find any link to the uninstaller for Mac 3.0 except the instructions regarding Help > Uninstall. Does this that I have to install 3.1 and uninstall it through the help menu? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, looks like that KB article didn't get edited correctly after 3.1 was released. I've put in a request to fix that, but in the meantime, if you have 3.0.x and need to uninstall it, the uninstaller is available here:

https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mac_uninstaller/

Note that this should be used for 3.0 through 3.0.3 only! 3.1 and later should always use the integrated uninstaller, accessible through the Help menu.
