Installing Java

Recommended Posts

Currently, I have Java 6 Update 3 and Update 7 installed, with Update 7 being used, due to a complete re-install in July. Previously, I had Update 11 and later Update 12 installed. However, prior to and after, I have had difficult installing Update 13 and onward.Any attempts to install the latest version gets a Error: 25099. I want to install the latest Java for security reasons, but I'm afraid that if I use Windows unistaller, to remove my copies, that I'll be left without it if I can't install the latest version. Prior to the re-installation, I had used to remove any Java only to have Update 13 fail to install. Hence, how I ended up with Java 12, which fortunately worked, prior to my Windows crash and re-installation. I use it mostly for Open Office. The Java.com site has stated it would no long reply to messages about Error: 25099. Any help out there?
