Occasional screen twitching/refreshing? - Malwarebytes

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

For those who read my previous encounters with Malwarebytes installing and setup, its been fixed thank god.

I do have another concern, so back from this post ( see below ).

https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/201667-malware-bytes-finds-weird-trojan/

I was experiencing some weird pop ups that lasted 1/2 second, these popups where cmd.exe windows.I was referred to download Sysinternals Autoruns from here.

After running Sysinternals autoruns, and pasted the file and it was viewed by someone in the staff and nothing seemed unusual.

This issue stop happening for some reason.

Now I am seeing occasionally refreshes on my window taskbar, I feel like this is a concern for me as a trojan is within my system, possibly disguised.

Is there a program where it can run in my computer for a certain period of time and catch/log any opened files so I can see what is opening and closing?

Please help.

The cmd pop-ups were more likely from MSOFT's compatibility runner. Check your task manager after it happens. If they happen regularly (60 minutes apart) you can use a screen recorder to capture the cmd window activity. There was a patch issue recently so that it runs "quietly".

Not sure I understand what you mean by taskbar refresh. Can you post a video?

If you believe you are infected then seek help through that forum.

Thanks for the reply Telos. It was jut weird how I never seen it before and now I dont see it anymore happening.

I will post a screen recorder Monday morning when I work. the bottom vertical bar of windows 10 ( icons of certain programs ) they just refresh periodically. I am concerned I am infected, but I did MB scans and nothing. Is there something I can install and it can log all running and open process files in the background and save that log?

Hello @moetee

Let us get some logs please so we can take a look and see if something odd is going on

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system.
You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply as well.
