ADWCleaner freezes when it has to clean PUP.Optional.TweakBit, PUP.Optional.Legacy and PUP.Adware.Heuristic.

I am using ADWCleaner 7.0.1.0.

Nor Junk Removal Tool neither MalwareBytes detect those PUPs.

Please advise.

Hello,

@htoscani Can you share AdwCleaner logfile?

Thanks,

AdwCleaner shows the three PUPs. When trying to clean, it sends a message "Caught unhandled unknown exception; terminating" and freezes before making a logfile. I have to shut it down with Task Manager.

Thanks, I'm trying to reproduce and I'll keep you posted.

In the meantime, would it be possible to ask you to trigger the crash again:

  1. Launch AdwCleaner,
  2. Click on Tools > Options and tick "Debug".
  3. Do a scan and a clean. The crash should occur, terminate the application using the Task Manager and share the folder C:\AdwCleaner.

Thanks!

Using the paths provided by AdwCleaner and using Everything, I erased the PUP folders.

I executed AdwCleaner and it erased the Optional.Legacy, the only apparently I did not delete.

I am attaching the last report.

I was using version 7.0.1.0

Thanks for your help.

Hello!

I was having the same problem with 7.0.0.0, downloaded the 7.0.1.0 and it didn't work too.

But downloaded 6.047 and was able to remove everything.

This is not good news...

I solved my problem looking for (and deleting) folders and files found with Everyting, based on info given by AdwCleaner reports.

I had the same issue after updating to Adware cleaner 7.0.1.0.  I saw in the log file the PUP folder that caused the problem and then I removed it in c:\program data (after making it visible ) After that I reinstalled Adware cleaner 7.0.1.0  and now it's working fine !

Hey, I'm having the same issue. Do I have to share the entire folder or a particular file? I've already run it with "Debug" option on
