Malware Visualization

hi all -

I'm looking for a simple student project which combines visualization and malware on mobile systems. Two questions :

1. Top of head do you have any interesting project on visualization malware files as affected on a phone system?

2. Are there any good repositories of Malware files which can be used by the students to create the visualization or is there an easy VM+python based method to create them?

It sounds like you have a very interesting project you are working on.

Although I personally do not know of any projects specifically for mobile malware visualization, I'm sure there must be some that exist.  Just searching "mobile malware visualization" is a great place to start.

2. Are there any good repositories of Malware files which can be used by the students to create the visualization or is there an easy VM+python based method to create them?

Although I can't with good conscious point you to a website hosting malware, I can tell you that searching through third party app stores often produce the results you are looking for.  I strongly suggest setting up a VM environment, and checking APKs against VirusTotal to see if it's infected with anything.  Be careful as some could be infected with viruses that execute on the Windows OS.  Disclaimer: working with malware is risky business, so do so at your own risk — once again, VM environments are best.
