metafloor Posted July 11, 2017 ID:1141961 Share Posted July 11, 2017 Purchased and installed malwarebytes six weeks ago. Since then, I have been having network issues every day. It has gotten to the point where I may have to uninstall because it is too annoying to continue with this. The issue is slow DHCP. Whenever I unhibernate my laptop, it will take several minutes to connect to the wireless network. It used to take a few seconds before MB. If I click on the network icon in the tool tray while the "busy circle" is spinning over the network ic, it states that the proxy is not responding. I assume MB has installed a transparent proxy - my network does not require nor use one. Other times (several times per week), the DHCP simply times out and a red X appears over the network icon. I then have to manually connect to my access point by clicking on the toolbar icon and select my network SID. And then it takes another several minutes to connect. My system: - Windows 7 Pro, SP1 - Malwarebytes Premium 3.1.2 Attached is the mb-check log. Thanks, -Mark mb-check-results.zip
Porthos Posted July 11, 2017 ID:1141964 Share Posted July 11, 2017 I would suggest 2 things. 1-A restart of the system. System has been up for: 637.628 Hours 2- Install the current version. https://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/mb3 Restart again and keep an eye on it. I would also add mutual exclusions to Microsoft Security Essentials and MB. C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbae64.sys C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\Windows\System32\drivers\MBAMChameleon.sys C:\Windows\System32\drivers\MBAMSwissArmy.sys C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mwac.sys C:\Windows\system32\Drivers\farflt.sys C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\MbamPt.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\assistant.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\malwarebytes_assistant.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\MBAMWsc.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\mbamtray.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\MBAMService.exe Folders Also the MB folder in Program Files and the one in Program Data (it is hidden by default) C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes (Enable hidden files to add this one.) C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbae64.sys etc Are these exclusions added as file exemptions in Windows Defender or process exemptions? If file, then is it not enough to simply add the exclusion at folder level? Thanks for clarifying.
Porthos Posted July 13, 2017 ID:1142469 Share Posted July 13, 2017 I always add the exec files as process exclusions the folders as folder exclusions and the sys files as file exclusions. Then I go to MB and add defender folders to folder exclusions.
Firefox Posted July 13, 2017 ID:1142470 Share Posted July 13, 2017 Add it as a Process Exceptions. I really do not like excluding whole folders, this is just in case a piece of Malware lands in that folder, it would be excluded...
