Malwarebytes freezes while scanning (Win32/Gamarue.gen!A)

Recommended Posts

I am new to Malwarebytes and have the same issue.  I am running the same version under Windows 10.  I would like to add that I had the same issue 6 weeks ago and now have a completely different security suite but still have the same problem.  The standard scan runs fine but the custom scan either locks my pc or causes BSOD after close to 90 minutes into the custom scan. The last incident gave me a 'APC Index Mismatch' error in the BSOD message.

Thanks,

HTOR

Hello @Htor and :welcome:

Thank you for reporting the system's issues.  The Malwarebytes' staffers/helpers must have good log data for a quality fault analysis to begin.  Some BSoD Small Memory Dump files may have been written to "%SystemRoot%\Minidump\" and remain from an MB3 custom scan failure.  If this has been the case, please archive them in a .zip file and attach along with the requested files below:

  1. Please save your work and close all running user applications for your convenience. applications for your convenience.

  2. Please follow the steps within the locked/pinned topic at Having problems using Malwarebytes? Please follow these steps.

  3. In your next reply to your topic, please only attach the three (3) separate files that are developed above: mb-check-results.zip, FRST.txt, and Addition.txt.

  4. Additionally, please consider selecting the "Follow" button, near the upper-right corner of your topic, to receive punctual email notifications when updates are posted.

Thank you.

Hi @1PW! I have the same problem, running Win 8.1. No memory dump files, and MB gets stuck on one file or another and need to force it to end task through task manager. Also Gamarue infection, detected by Win Defender, but reappears on every reboot. Powershell enabled in startup so I turned it off as a feature. Here are my logs. Thanks a lot for your help!

Hello and Welcome...

Your scans show that you ran the FRST scan in safe mode.  It is better to boot the computer up in Normal Mode then re-run the FRST scan and repost the logs.... Please post them in your own topic though so you can get one on one help.
