Malwarebytes won't load and won't start manually either

I have the paid version of Malwarebytes on a Windows 10, 64-bit PC.  Last night it gave me the option to download and install the newest version, which required a reboot.  After installation I did the reboot and now Malwarebytes does not load upon restart and it also won't start when I try to do so manually - error message says "Unable to Start, unable to connect the service" - see attached screenshot.  My Internet connection is working fine.  Also, since the installation, Malwarebytes has messed up my Brother laser printer.  It goes offline and I have to manually change it to online (which involves several steps) each time I print.
