Can't exclude AVG antivirus driver updater?

Recommended Posts

My Malwarebytes Premium offers an Exclusions tab. One pre-set possibility listed is my AVG  updater. Apparently by default, it is not checked. I am concerned that Malwarebytes might somehow disable all or part of my updates, as it appears that AVG's automatic updates have not been occurring for months. Whenever I check the AVG updater box on the Exclusions tab, nothing like an "OK" or "Apply" button appears. If I click another tab, then return to Exclusions, the box has been unchecked. I tried using "Add exclusion" to specify it, but nothing happened.

What's going on? How do I do this right?

Hello and Welcome!

What happens if you exit out of Malwarebytes completely by right clicking on the MB Tray Icon and selection Quit Malwarebytes?  Also have you tried truning off some of the protection modules in MB3 to see if your AVG update works after that?

Let's try and get some logs first so the team can review them and see if they can tell what may be causing your issues....

  1. If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: mb-check-results.zip, FRST.txt, Addition.txt)

Please let us know how it goes.

Thank You,

Hello @LizDavies

By exiting out of Malwarebytes it automatically turns off most protection. My guess would be that there is something wrong with your AVG installation (have seen it many times)

My recommendation would be to fully uninstall AVG. Then restart the computer and reinstall AVG and make sure updates for AVG are now working and let us know.

Thank you

Ron
