My windows 10 computer was suddenly extremely slow and kept freezing after a few minutes after starting up. I noticed that the disc in the taskmanager was at 100% all the time and that thousands of "Java Web Launcher" were running in the background, multiplying untill they hit 8000 and my pc froze.

I ran the java uninstaller tool (java was scaring me) in save mode, since my computer was inoperable but the uninstaller failed.

Also, I have already reverted back to the only restoration point I had from two days ago, but this didnt resolve the issue.

If anyone can help me I would be so grateful.

Okay, I've gone ahead and renamed javaws.exe to axe.BAK and then uninstalled using the oracle unistaller and the java problem has been solved.

My pc is a lot faster now, but the disc still hits 100% a lot even when there's nothing open. So I'm still a little concerned.

Any tips for fixing this?

Hello and Welcome..

That Java bug has been know for some time, and your fix you performed is one of the solutions.

Let's try and get some logs first so the team can review them and see if they can tell what may be causing your issues....

  1. If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: mb-check-results.zip, FRST.txt, Addition.txt)

Please let us know how it goes.

Thank You,

Your logs show signs of being infected, and its going to be best to seek one on one help from the experts.  This is done for free, however its done in a different section of the forum...

Also not sure if you know but you have some entries in your hosts file that are usually there for pirating Adobe Products, you may want to look into that too.

127.0.0.1 lmlicenses.wip4.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 lm.licenses.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 na1r.services.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 hlrcv.stage.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 practivate.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com

So, for expert assistance, I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.

It explains the options for free, expert help -->>AND<<-- the suggested, preliminary steps to expedite the process.
A malware analyst will assist you with looking into your issue.

Basically start a new topic over in that section and post the same logs you attached above.

Thank you
