Aura,

Thank you for responding.  My XP Svc Pck 2 works just fine.  As you know it's been many years since Windows arbitrarily stopped supporting the XP system; yet many people still use it without any problems. As a matter of fact I am glad they stopped the nuisance of constant and unnecessary updates that caused more problems than they solved.  I will not jeopardize my XP by installing a proven unnecessary Svc Pck 3.  That's even if I have to drop Malwarebytes altogether.  I don't see why you are forcing us to install an obsolete Svc Pck 3 in order to upgrade to Malwarebytes 3.

You know that right now, your Windows XP is a computer asking to be infected, right? Security Updates aren't released to bloat your system or anything but to improve its security by fixing 0-days (CVEs) in it and making it more secure. Windows XP with SP3 is way more secure than Windows XP SP2 but not enough anymore. Right now, your system is probably infected and you don't even know about it. Someone could scan the web, find your IP randomly and try to throw a bunch of exploits at you until one works. Even Exploit Kits must be having a field day on Windows XP SP2.

Where was this proven?

How is SP3 obselete, but SP2 isn't? Also, SP3 adds features required by Malwarebytes in order to function.

Windows XP and Windows Vista are dead and considered a security hole anywhere they are, THIS is a proven fact.

At this point, I would move to a Linux distro (like Ubuntu) if you cannot afford a more recent version of Windows (at least Windows 7).

... and on an obsolete OS. Imagine the horrors!  :o

It's somewhat ironic bothering to install an anti-malware product (even one as good as MBAM) on an OS which now is plagued by insecurity. When the windows are open and the doors unlocked, that security alarm system isn't going to protect you from break-ins.

Hello @Yagru

I'm sorry, but due to the multiple patches and fixes for security that Service Pack 3 for XP brings, it really is best that you install SP3 on your system and all security updates after that. As far as I know, Microsoft will still allow those updates via their internal update system. Though getting SP3 now is difficult and you may need to get it from some place like FileHippo

Those are the current requirements for our Malwarebytes 3 program.

Thank you

Ron
