Am completely locked out; keeps asking for a password. Did not set a password. Unable to get into "safe mode". When computer is turned on the admin logo appears in the middle of the screen and beneath that is my name and beneath that a place to enter a password. Down on the left side of the screen is the time and beneath is the date.Down on the right side of the screen are three symbols; one is shut down/restart, one is "ease of access", & the other is "connect to the internet". Have tried every thing I know to get this computer running; so far nothing works. Any suggestions is appreciated. Edited July 1, 2017 by srwa
srwa Posted July 1, 2017 Author ID:1139882 Share Posted July 1, 2017 (edited) There is nothing on the screen except a picture and what I listed. The only thing I can do is shut down or restart from one of the icons on the screen. Edited July 1, 2017 by srwa Insert more info
srwa Posted July 1, 2017 Author ID:1139888 Share Posted July 1, 2017 No specific accounts. Computer starts in Admin. Always got into safe mode by tapping the f8 key during startup, doesn't work in 10. Will try what you and Telos suggested. Even if I get into safe mode don't believe I can change any passwords. And thats what it is asking for. TIA for all the help. Ken

srwa Posted July 2, 2017 Author ID:1139900 Share Posted July 2, 2017 Bought this computer couple years ago off Ebay. It's a Dell Optiplex 780 running Windows 8.1; upgraded to 10, which was a freebee at that time. Didn't come with any disks. Never had any problems until I downloaded Malwarebytes. Am on a 2004 Compac laptop running XP. Downloaded Malwarebytes to see if it would repeat the problem, could not install, kept getting error message:" Runtime Error(49:120) Invalid Floating Point Operation".
