ellahood Posted June 29, 2017 ID:1139173 Share Posted June 29, 2017 Hello all, A month ago I purchased Bluboo Maya and after installing Malwarebytes on the phone, the scans showed two infected system files. 1) Android/Trojan.HiddenApp.ck in /system/priv-app/KST_LTX_SCweather/KST_LTX_SCweather.apk 2) Android/PUP.Adware.Yemobi.a in /system/app/AdupsFota/AdupsFota.apk As these are system files, they cannot be removed. I contacted the seller and they promise they have not installed anything malicious. Is there a chance these are false positives? If they are not, is it safe to just block them or do I need to remove them? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
ellahood Posted August 27, 2017 Author ID:1157529 Share Posted August 27, 2017 **UPDATE** These were indeed infected files and with a lot of research on the matter, I managed to remove them from my phone and the new scans from Malwarebytes come clean. Problem solved.
McStan Posted August 28, 2017 ID:1157775 Share Posted August 28, 2017 Hi Ellahood, I've got a Bluboo Maya Max with the malware problems. How did you manage to get rid of the infected system files ? Kind Regards McStan
Staff mbam_mtbr Posted September 12, 2017 Staff ID:1162785 Share Posted September 12, 2017 Hi Ellahood, Glad you found a solution! Unfortunately, preinstalled malware on some phone manufacturers is becoming more of an issue -> Mobile Menace Monday: Preinstalled adware and sometimes worse McStan, my guess is that he went the route of rooting his device and/or re-imaged the phone with another ROM. This is a risky task as it could "brick" the phone, but if your willing to the take that risk on yourself it could be an option. The only other method would be to disable the apps, which is explained in the linked blog post above. Nathan
