Create and obtain an mb-check log:

  1. Download mb-check from here and save to your desktop
  2. Run mb-check and within a few second the command window will open and then close
  3. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-checkResult.txt
  4. Attach this log file to your post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area

It's okay. The log shows that our program is having some issues with the rootkit driver and locating the partition information. Not sure what is causing that but I do see you're having fault errors in the Event Logs for some Intel drivers associated with disk IO. Also some errors in the hash files for the system. Might be due to a conflict of one or more of your applications trying to monitor, manage, defrag the hard drive.

Since Intel is almost certainly the main driver behind storage on your computer we really need to look at getting that fixed.

Let's go ahead and try the following as a band aid and see if it helps any for the Firefox memory error.

Please download the attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop.
NOTE. It's important that both files, FRST or FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on this particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system.

Run FRST or FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
If the tool needs a restart please make sure you let the system restart normally and let the tool complete its run after restart.
The tool will make a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please attach or post it to your next reply.

Note: If the tool warned you about an outdated version please download and run the updated version.

fixlist.txt

Thanks

Ron

Oh, things got a little wonky with partion stuff when I lost a H/drive when arm was smacking the platter and failed.

Did a format on C: a SSD  then stuck in a h/drive a NAS to go along with a normal h/drive and then had to move stuff all over the place while that happened I had a crash and had to restore deleted files so ya it is a mess the larger the disks, more crap ya have.

I'd disagree with that. If you're using Intel hardware there drivers work pretty well. Up to you, it's your computer though.

Let me have you do a clean removal and reinstall of our software. Make sure your security software is disabled for the removal and reinstall.

Please read the following topic and then run the Malwarebytes Clean Removal tool mb-clean

The download link for the tool is:

https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb_clean

Restart the computer when done and reinstall Malwarebytes 3 with the latest build again.

Here is the link for the latest installer https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb3 but the clean up tool will automatically try to do the reinstall for you after a reboot.

Thank you Ron

Hi. Ok uninstalled Intel Storage Tech and cleaned up registry.  System runs fine as I built the thing ASUS Maximus VI Extreme - i7 4790K@4.0ghz, 32gig-Gskill Trident X 2400, MSI R7970 Twin Frozr III Factory OC, Corsair 240g SSD, Corsair W/C H801, 3TB Sam, Win10Pro x64

Any hoo guess looking for this

MBAM did a real fast scan as usually takes 10mins or so. It did find a wack of stuff, some Auslogics tasks and reg entries. Kept the log for it but did nothing at this time with entries

Yup have yellow item in device manager, turned up after the Creators Update.  Only device on cpu is the ASUS Overclocking Panel that comes with this MB, it has a updated driver from ASUS for Win10 which I have not got to yet as I have to go into bios and disable a function then have to pull the power for the Overclock Panel and reboot,  Install the software and reboot and then shutdown and stick power to it again and change the bios setting and startup again. Figured I would wait till need to do a dust cleanup on it.

As for items found by scan, getting tired. So will decide if want to muck with exclusions tomorrow as there is a few to be added.

1 hour ago, AdvancedSetup said:

Checking back. How are things going? Is the memory error happening still when exiting Firefox?

Ya, took all of 4 open and shut down of FF54 which was fine then went into Addons/Extensions and clicked on turn Norton Tool Bar on and then shutdown and recieved error again. Shut down MBAM and again no error when shutting FF54 down.

Once Norton Toolbar has been activated to run in FF54 even turning it back off and a reboot does not stop the error message. Short of Uninstalling NS again to see if cures error and reinstalling but not turning it on would be possible solution. Trouble is I use the tech from it in Google search to get a ya or nay on websites and blocking a website, much like Google and Mbam does. I did uninstall and do a reinstall to update everything in Norton but to no avail once Tool Bar was clicked to activate.

I could scream ! lol.  I would no suppose that Norton Tool Bar and Malwarebytes do not get along and that when shutting down tool bar triggers MBAM for the MS Error Exception Application. lol, this is so scream worthy that I am sure nothing short of a format would fix the ill will between all 3 programs. With especially note to todays admission by MS that it does turn off 3rd party AV and sticks Windows Defender to on in/at certain times as per Microsoft admits (partially) to turning off third party anti-virus in Windows 10 https://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/3012462/microsoft-admits-partially-to-turning-off-third-party-anti-virus-in-windows-10

So I guess am out in the cold till FF releases a new build and/or Norton releases their next version update I would expect soon as a former beta tester for them or even a new build of MBAM or the MS Fall Update...hahahaha, ah what can you do but laugh at this. .........

So guess am left to watch the error for awhile. Sorta goes along with my diying TV as a monitor power supply as well as the insistence of MBAM to try and scan Norton Dir's after putting in a exception. I watch the logs get bigger and bigger...

Thanks for the help Ron.

Spoke with QC and they'd like me to have you try a few things to narrow it down.

Can you remove Firefox or Norton or whichever is needed to get it back to a point that there is no error again.

Then try the following so we can see which module might be in conflict.

1. Diable the Malwarebytes Web Protection module. Add Norton and see if the error comes back.

2. if 1 still crashes, fix Firefox again so no error. Then disable Exploit protection, add Norton toolbar again and see if error again

3. If 1 or 2 still crashes with Norton toolbar add, then fix Firefox again so no error. Then disable the Ransomware protection and add Norton toolbar again and test.

Post back your results when you can.

Thanks

Disabled Norton Tool Bar in FF54 and shut down, error still there.

Completely uninstalled Norton Security and error is gone when exiting FF54

Will now reinstall NS, and follow along with 1. Disable the Malwarebytes Web Protection module. Add Norton and see if the error comes back

Back later with result of step 1

Took short cut big problems getting Norton to re-install.
Also took short cut with FF54 left it installed with Norton Tool Bar Enabled and performed below. No fix/no re-install
MBAM Web-Protection turned off still Apllication Error being called. Turned back on.
Turned off MBAM Exploit Protection No error though Firefox not listen in Manage Protected Applications, Turned back on
Ransomeware error still being called. Turned back on

Is as far as I go with this. As to perform the 3 tests with FF54 from standing fresh is uninstall Norton Security each time and then install again after clean-up first  Anymore time I might as well format.
Thanks for the help.

Didn't mean for you to install, uninstall Norton. I thought you said you could just remove the toolbar and reset FF and it was ok.

But, it looks like if you turn off our Exploit protection the error goes away? What if you reboot the computer and keep Exploit off does the error still stay gone?

I know. But diving into FF 54 to make a clean install was pulling folders, diving into the registry in multiple places etc and it took awhile as well as my mind.

Was much faster to uninstall Norton to take the toolbar out but something was going on with their servers today and was getting error messages trying to re-install.  With a dedicated T-1 line is poof installed and updated in no time usually.

So to the answer of your question when Exploit Protection is turned off and rebooted there is no error. Multiple open and closing to check. Turned Exploit back on and poof we got error again.  So ya is some where in your Exploit code that is triggering this.  Also as said FireFox is not listed under the Manage Protected Applications bunch of other browsers and applications as well as SeaMonkey.

I just entered FireFox.exe into the list and about to check what goes but for some reason maybe I should be looking for the Toolbar and really start a battle. OK..checking
