I cannot, no matter what I do (and I've tried everything suggested and some not) get my exploit protection to COME ON AND STAY ON. Quitting Malwarebytes in the system tray does seem to work, albeit sporadically. Without fail, however, the problem reoccurs in short order. I had this problem with 3.0.5 and 3.0.6. After installing 3.1.2, "Exploit" protection along with "Web", "Malware" and "Ransomware" protections came on and remained on. Now, several weeks later, the ON AGAIN OFF AGAIN "Exploit Protection" setting has re-emerged. This needs to be solved and assurances given that my system IS PROTECTED. I need help.

Let's get som diagnostic logs.

  • Create and obtain an mb-check log
    1. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
    2. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, then click "OK"
    3. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
      • Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area
  • Create and obtain Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) logs
    1. Download FRST and save it to your desktop
Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
    2. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
    3. Press the "Scan" button
    4. This will produce two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
      • Attach both of these logs to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the files to the attachment area

I'm 72 years old and not terribly computer savvy. Hence my post timed out prior to my ability to "attach" or "drag" the FRST: FILES to my post. I'd like to try again.

having this exact problem. Exploit Protection will not turn on. The green slider shows starting and then pops back to off.

I just rebooted after installing Windows Updates on Windows 10 and noticed the problem started. So that's my guess as to what is the change.

mb3-check appears to be running in task manager, but in "suspended" mode.

But here are the logs from FRST

@nybbles and @congaplayer

Have both of you tried a clean reinstall?

Let's try this first.... (Malwarebytes clean removal tool will backup your license information and then re-enter the license to the new install)

  1. Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - Malwarebytes mb-clean tool (NOTE: After uninstalling with the mb-claen tool you will be asked to reboot. Once you reboot it will ask you if you want to re-install Malwarebytes, you can select YES (it will download the latest version) or you can download the latest version manually (currently v3.1.2.1733 ) to re-install from HERE)
  2. If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: mb-check-results.zip, FRST.txt, Addition.txt)
  3. NOTE: More info about the latest Malwarebytes 3.1.2 HERE; MB 3 User Guide ONLINE; MB 3 User Guide PDF; MB 3 FAQ: Malwarebytes 3.0 - Frequently Asked Questions

Please let us know how it goes.

Thank You,
