Can't uninstall program and/or delete folder when mbam is running

Recommended Posts

As seen in this video, I cannot delete a certain folder/files when mbam is running. I'm not sure if it extends to other folders/files, haven't really tested. But clearly, as soon as I exit mbam, I am allowed to delete the folder.

The box closer to the middle of the screen is the uninstaller for a certain program which is giving me an error. And on the left, is the error that I get when trying to manually delete the folder that the uninstaller is trying to get rid of.

So what gives? I don't want to uninstall mbam but it seems to be causing an issue. I've already gone through each of the different protection modules, disabling them one at a time to see if one in particular is causing an issue, but so far it only works when I completely exit mbam.

Basically, if you can't see the video, windows tells me that I need permissions from.. myself.. in order to delete the folder. This is abnormal. So anyways, I click "Continue" as if I'm granting permission to delete the folder, but the same message keeps reoccurring until I exit malwarebytes, and then no message about administrator rights appears when I attempt to delete the folder.

If the said program is being protected by Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit that explains why you can't delete it as it may be protected or running.

I suspect that other folders would delete correctly.

You could try a clean re-install of Malwarebytes in case there is a setting that was accidentally enabled and causing the issue.

Let's try this first.... (Malwarebytes clean removal tool will backup your license information and then re-enter the license to the new install)

  1. Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - Malwarebytes mb-clean tool (NOTE: After uninstalling with the mb-claen tool you will be asked to reboot. Once you reboot it will ask you if you want to re-install Malwarebytes, you can select YES (it will download the latest version) or you can download the latest version manually (currently v3.1.2.1733 ) to re-install from HERE)
  2. If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: mb-check-results.zip, FRST.txt, Addition.txt)
  3. NOTE: More info about the latest Malwarebytes 3.1.2 HERE; MB 3 User Guide ONLINE; MB 3 User Guide PDF; MB 3 FAQ: Malwarebytes 3.0 - Frequently Asked Questions

Please let us know how it goes.
