Malwarebytes 1.39

Recommended Posts

I run windows xp and I have used Malwarebytes free version for about 12 months. When version 1.38 was released I decided to purchase a licenced copy. I downloaded version 1.38, did a scan shut down the computer and went to bed. When I booted up the computer the next day it froze after loading malwarebytes. I was not sure at first why the computer would freeze so to try one more thing I uninstalled Malwarebytes, rebooted the computer and everything was fine so for some reason version 1.38 and my computer are not compatable. I have not used it since.

Recently version 1.39 was released so I thought I would give it a try. No good, the computer once again froze after loading.

Can anyone make a suggestion as to why malwarebytes ran perfectly until 1.38 was released. If so what can be done to alleviate the problem.

We have had to configure Malwarebytes with some AV/Firewall programs, and it has to be done manually, post back what your AV is? Here are some examples of some programs:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=17605

A general breakdown of what needs to be Trusted by your AV software of the mbam files are as follows:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbam.sys

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref (Windows 2000/XP)

Malwarebytes has better than a 95% fix with the above. Others that didn't work were infected, and fixed in the HJK forum.

The above should fix you up. If you have any issues? post back please. regards..

EDIT: were on version 1.39 now, check your about tab for the version number..
