Question about "End of Life" for MBAM2

I am using MBAM2 (version 2.2.1.1043) on my Windows 7 Prof. 64-bit computer. I intend to upgrade to MBAM3, but right now I'm about to make a long-distance move and have no time to deal with any glitches, problems, or questions about MBAM3. I'm thus planning to stay with MBAM2, which has worked flawlessly for years, for the next month or so until I've found a place to live and have moved in.  I've just read that MBAM2 will reach "End of Life" on June 8, 2017.  I know that after that, there will be no tech support, but will there still be anti-malware database versions issued multiple times each day?

Please read through the recent topic at https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/201887-database-updates-and-version-info/ and know that application updates should not be expected for MBAM Consumer Editions v1.75.0.1300 nor v2.2.1.1043 but that the multiple database updates you are accustomed to seeing daily will continue.

Thanks very much,1PW, for your prompt and encouraging reply. I read the Home Products Lifecycle Policy at https://www.malwarebytes.com/support/lifecycle/ before posting here, but it said nothing about the database updates. That's why I posted my question. I'm delighted to know that the daily database updates will continue.

And I had much the same concerns as yourself "WhatMeWorry"
- which was why I authored the topic that 1PW suggested 
- which now has a MalwareBytes Staff reply from Celee

So for those of us who "prefer to defer" the upgrade we have some more time before we are forced to jump.

But keep this part of the statement clear.

I just asked our Product Manager and he said Malwarebytes 1.75-2.x will continue to get database updates after the June 8 date for now while we continue to migrate users over to 3.1, but like the End of Life policy states, "ongoing protection updates are not guaranteed". I do not know what date the team will decide to turn off database update for the older Malwarebytes Anti-Malware versions.

Personally, I have not found a computer yet running Win 10 that did not work fine with 3x. Those with older computers/OS's should really start saving up for a replacement.

I disagree and this statement should be edited there's many of older PCS, 7 and 8.1 that are functioning just fine with MB3.

Here is your edit.  I did say personally.

 

I am a firm believer that you should not use an OS on the net period that is end of life. At the moment anything older than 7 is gone. In 3 years I will say the same about Win 7 and 3 yrs after that Win 8.

Age is not always a factor to me, OS and compatible/capable hardware are. I am on a 10 yr old Dell e6520 right now.  Win 10 and MB 3x have always worked on it.

Thanks very much for your response and for your valiant attempt to bring clarity to the issue on the thread you started. I've now had a look at that thread, and although you tried to summarize it at the end, I was disappointed that no one from MBAM responded saying "Yes, you're right."  Perhaps they felt it wasn't necessary because you were correct, but I found 1PW's response to me on this thread clearer and more reassuring than the responses you received to your thread. But between the two threads, I guess we can rest assured that daily database updates for 2.2.1 will continue after June 8.

I also think you made an excellent point about the obscurity in the way database updates are listed in MBAM3. MBAM2's information is much clearer and more easily available. On version 2, all I have to do is mouse over the MBAM icon in the system tray and it gives me the program version and the database version. The database version is also available on the dashboard, which is where my version of MBAM opens. Moreover, "Database version v2017.06.03.02" is much more easily understood by users than "Update package version: 1.0.2043."
