MBAM is now flagging a product that it never flagged before

I have been using Mail.ru Agent to chat with a team of developers in Central Asia for three years, and I never had a conflict with MBAM.  (For those of you unfamiliar with the product, it works sort of like Yahoo Messenger, but with a few cool extra features.)  A few days ago, I did a scan and MBAM flagged about 3500 files, all of which were related to my Mail.ru installation.  I accepted the quarantine recommendation, ran a complete system scan with both MBAM and my (Avira Antivirus) software.  I then re-installed Agent, ran the MBAM scan again, and got another report of about 3500 files.

Question 1: Does MBAM have a problem with Mail.ru Agent that it didn't have before?
Question 2: Assuming my Agent installation is really okay, is there a way to add the application to a "safe" list within MBAM?

Hi DeanSF and welcome to the Malwarebytes support forums.

It seems that the client application is sharing some data with the Mail.ru PUP software (PUP stands for Potentially Unwanted Program).

Please can you update MBAM to the current database and run a new threatscan.

This time at the end of the scan make sure all boxes are unchecked (EG empty) and then ask MBAM to remove the items found.

This wiil generate a pop up windows asking if you would like to add those detections to the ignore list.

Please select "Ignore always" for all detections and then rescan to confirm the items are no longer detected.
