I feel I'm being shanghaid

Recommended Posts

I had the old version of Premium, which inadvertently was removed from my computer. I found a suitable download of the free version, but my key was not acccpted.

It also seems that there's no opportunity of a free version of 3. If I use my existing licence, the activation button is greyed'

Am I condemned either to not having protection at all, or forced in to a purchase of 3 Premium? Is my existing lifetime licence void?

Per staff-er Celee License issues can be resolved via ......

https://support.malwarebytes.com/customer/portal/emails/new?b_id=6400&utm_source=forum

and they can assist you with this licensing issue. If you don't run MB-Clean (below) and try a new Install, then you should start there.

LIFETIME Licenses are GOOD for Mbam 3 and will work.

MBAM Free occurs when you run the Premium Trial PAST 14 days, and you then lose Real-time Protection, net LESS Protection Modules and Manual-Only Scans. Dnload Link Below that you may have used .............

https://www.malwarebytes.com/premium/

You can Run the MB Clean Tool to clear corrupted Installations and Try another Download of the Premium Trial. THAT has worked for some.

I pasted the URL and it made a Quote ...  Clk (open in new tab)(blue)  "Reply to Mbam Support Tools" link below and the Clean link is there

Did your first Trial Install go beyond 14 days. THAT "may" be why the Activation Button is Gray.... not sure how that works.

The experts will show-up to clean this up but what I've provided may very well work.

Last nigh the computer crashed and with a program " Who Crashed Me" the crash appears to relate to Malwarebytes. Who Crashed Me report follows.

Quote

On Thu 01/06/2017 22:59:22 your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\060117-18890-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: mwac.sys (Unloaded_mwac.sys+0xF890)
Bugcheck code: 0x50 (0xFFFFF803CDC0F890, 0x0, 0xFFFFF803CDC269D5, 0x0)
Error: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
file path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mwac.sys
product: Malwarebytes Web Protection
company: Malwarebytes
description: Malwarebytes Web Protection
Bug check description: This indicates that invalid system memory has been referenced.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: mwac.sys (Malwarebytes Web Protection, Malwarebytes).
Google query: Malwarebytes PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Conclusion

One crash dump has been found and analyzed. A third party driver has been identified to be causing system crashes on your computer. It is strongly suggested that you check for updates for these drivers on their company websites. Click on the links below to search with Google for updates for these drivers:

mwac.sys (Malwarebytes Web Protection, Malwarebytes)

If no updates for these drivers are available, try searching with Google on the names of these drivers in combination with the errors that have been reported for these drivers. Include the brand and model name of your computer as well in the query. This often yields interesting results from discussions on the web by users who have been experiencing similar problems.

Read the topic general suggestions for troubleshooting system crashes for more information.

Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.

.As I'm in the trial period, should I locate a new driver and install it? Indeed s there one as suggested by the analysis?

  • Create and obtain an mb-check log
    1. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
    2. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, then click "OK"
    3. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
      • Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area
  • Create and obtain Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) logs
    1. Download FRST and save it to your desktop
Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
    2. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
    3. Press the "Scan" button
    4. This will produce two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
      • Attach both of these logs to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the files to the attachment area

@Porthos. Just to clear any misunderstanding, I am not aware of an actual Blue Screen.

I was going on the post you made. But is MB working correctly and have you been able to use your key?

  • 2 weeks later...

How wrong i was! On start up this morning a popup appeared telling me I the trial had ended with an invitation to upgrade.

When I try, using my existing key, once more I get, see attached pic, a screen with the activate option greyed out.

I know that I am using my existing valid key from Premium v2. So WTH is going on?
