Web Protection won't turn on

Hi Guys,

I have the same problem as JayBee.  Here are my stats:

Malwarebytes ver: 3.0.6.1469

Component pkg ver: 1.0.103

Update pkg verson: 1.2.2006

I uploaded the files as requested.  

I am running Kaspersky, as well and MWB.  I was thinking that might cause a conflict, so I turned of the Kaspersky protect.  However, I have the same problem still.

Glad you mentioned that.  MWB says I am on the latest update.  It states that there are no updates available.  

Sorry to be dense, but how do I upgrade?

Simply download the newest version from --> HERE <-- and install over the top of your existing version.

You would have been offered the upgrade sooner or later. They are metered out over time.

OK, so now I get (after reboot, and disabling Kaspersky) "ShellExecuteEX failed, code 5. Access is denied."

Looks like you install did not go through cleanly. 

Can you please run the following tool MB-Clean: https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb_clean

Tool will ask you for a reboot . Please restart your machine and then the tool will prompt you for a reinstall.

You should be able to install the latest version without any issues.

Please let us know.

Well, the tool never asked me for a reboot.  I rebooted anyway, executed the tool, and heard the "it did not work" sound.  No video.  Did this twice, no dice.  Can I uninstall Malwarebytes?

The tool would have posted a MB-Clean-Result.txt file on the desktop, can you please post that to the forum post.

I do not have a "MB-Clean-Result.txt" on my system.  I do have the mb-check-results below.

Your logs show that MB 3.0.6 is still installed. Without any reboot can you please run the MB-Clean tool again. 

The tool should ideally prompt you for a reboot. After reboot you should automatically get the re-install prompt.

Let me know if that flow works?

Again, I did that. And I did it again.  I get nothing but a sound indicating that that there was an error, but no visual cue.

Can you try installing in the safe mode and see if you get the same error.

Win 10 safemode was an adventure!  I am back to normal mode, and I have no malwarebytes at all.  Now what?

Now, install Malwarebytes!  It worked and I have full functionality.
