Protection modules stuck at "starting"

Recommended Posts

Hi. I seem to be having the same problem - I suddenly found that MB was reporting that my Real-Time protection was turned off and when I try to turn it on again I just get the perpetual "Starting" mentioned above.

I have tried:

* Default settings. No joy.
* Delay real-time protection by 15 sec & reboot. No joy.
* Enable self protection early start plus above & reboot. No joy
* Enable self protection early start without delay real-time start & reboot. No joy.

My component number is 103. I'm running Windows 7 and my virus software is AVG.

Any ideas?

Hi ColinC

It was the 15 second delay that was causing me issues.

All I can think of is there is a conflict with malwarebytes and AVG.

Have you tried disabling AVG auto start when Windows boots up and then checking for updates with malwarebytes.?

Just a thought.

With the current series of attacks going on I'm very reluctant to disable AVG when MB is already partially disabled. Particularly since there's been no conflict in the past five years or more! I don't know if you saw the previous comment from Porthos but it appears to be a simple snafu with the latest update that's causing the issue. I'm assuming that a new update will be issued soon.
