Protection modules stuck at "starting"

Recommended Posts

I was automatically updated recently.  I have Premium version 3.0.6.1469. Suddenly I started receiving warnings that I am not fully protected.  The real time protection was turned off and when I attempt to turn it on it merely says "starting".  Restarting my computer showed no improvement.  15 second delay is on.  I emailed for support but haven't heard back yet.  I'm getting nervous about using the internet w/out protection.  This is Windows 7 on a Dell.

Please try the following two things:

  1. Under Settings -> Protection, turn on "Enable early startup for self-protection module". Then reboot and see if your protection module starts up
  2. If that doesn't work, under Settings -> Protection, turn off the option for "Enable self-protection module". Then reboot and see if your protection module starts up

I was recently sent an upgrade and now I have an exclamation mark with text saying You're Not Fully Protected - turn on real time protection layers etc.  Well nothing works to make it stay on plus I have something saying waiting....... and I wait, and wait and wait and wait zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Below doesn't work for me:

Under Settings -> Protection, turn on "Enable early startup for self-protection module". Then reboot and see if your protection module starts up

If that doesn't work, under Settings -> Protection, turn off the option for "Enable self-protection module". Then reboot and see if your protection module starts up

Even though I think I tried #1 before and it didn't work - this time it did.  Thank you!
