Greetings,

This morning I got the Web Protection won't start/enable and followed all of the recommended steps in former posts from 2014 - 2016 covering the same topics.

After going through all of them on multiple computers what works is running "mb_clean.exe" / reboot / then re-install.

EventViewer showed bad registry module mismatch which is Malwarebytes problem to figure out ;)

Here's mb_clean.exe link => https://support.malwarebytes.com/customer/portal/articles/1835311-how-do-i-uninstall-malwarebytes-anti-malware-?b_id=6438

To get things working normally again simply open Malwarebytes and click on "Current" next to where it says Updates in the Dashboard and it should download and install working databases.  If it is able to successfully update but protection still is not working, then please try right-clicking the Malwarebytes tray icon next to your system clock and select Quit Malwarebytes and then open Malwarebytes once again from your START>Programs menu or from the shortcut located on your Desktop.

If the issue persists, then please try restarting your PC.

If you have any further issues, please create a new topic and one of our team members will assist you.

Thank you again for all your patience, we really appreciate it and thank you for using Malwarebytes.

The link you posted is for mbam_clean, which is for 2x. mb-clean is for 3x which can be downloaded from here: https://support.malwarebytes.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2756495-malwarebytes-mb-clean-tool?b_id=15026

As Porthos mentioned as well, getting the latest database updates should resolve your real-time protection issue
