Real-time Protection Layers Turned Off

Recommended Posts

MWB has begun to start up with web protection and malware protection turned off.  I can turn malware protection on, but not web protection, which hangs on starting.

I am running WIndows 10 and Kaspersky Total Security.  I have Malwarebytes Premium version 3.1.2.1733, component package 1.0.122, update package version 1.0.1974.  I have tried a clean uninstall and reinstall.  I have tried setting self-protection module early start, and also turning that module off.  None of these make a difference or stop that annoying pop-up window with the orange warning.

Malwarebytes has done this to me occasionally over the last few months, sometimes on a reboot and sometimes just in the middle of the day, but exiting and restarting it has resolved it.  It does not do so any more.  Nor does a reboot under the various conditions outlined above.

Any ideas, or shall I just turn MWB off?

I am also having the same problem on Windows 7, looks like a repeat of what was happening at the beginning of the year

Well, I see from the first reply that it is currently a known issue and might get resolved soon.  That's useful to know, as the same or similar issues seem to have been cropping up for years now, so a web search tends to find out-of-date solutions.

Same on my Windows Ten Premium. Reboot didn't help. Don't even want to use the internet when MBAM reports protection is off. i seem to remember when this happened with the roll-out of version 3, tech support saying protection was still on even though MBAM reported it off.

Does anyone else recall? Confidence is low when the program is telling you otherwise.

I am getting the same thing and like the previous user, mine started yesterday as well.  I am running Win7 on a 64bit Dell laptop.  I also run windows defender.  I did download and run the MWB root kit removal tool but it found nothing.  One other thing that I noticed is when I run MWB scan, it completes in seconds with no files scanned.  I also ran it with only the rootkit selected which gave the same results.  No files were scanned.

At the expense of being another whine, I am hating MWB 3.x I've been a user of MBAM on multiple machines for many years, but since the upgrade, I'm increasingly feeling insecure about relying on MBAM and that is not a good way to feel about a key security product. Given the years of great service from MBAM there are still some loyalty points in the bank, but they are rapidly running out.

And MBAM is encouraging us that we only need it as a single security product now - I'm glad I still run Avira alongside it.

The stability of this version just does not feel ready for real time.

After some initial, problems, MB has been very stable for many months.  Wishing and waiting.

Just chiming in to report the same problem here: desktop PC running Windows 7 x64 Pro and MB Premium. It was fine when I went to bed at 2am, no web protection when I arose at 6am. When I try to turn it back on it just shows the spinning wheel non-stop.

Thank you.

Yes, and?

To get things working normally again simply open Malwarebytes and click on "Current" next to where it says Updates in the Dashboard and it should download and install working databases.  If it is able to successfully update but protection still is not working, then please try right-clicking the Malwarebytes tray icon next to your system clock and select Quit Malwarebytes and then open Malwarebytes once again from your START>Programs menu or from the shortcut located on your Desktop.

If the issue persists, then please try restarting your PC.

If you have any further issues, please create a new topic and one of our team members will assist you.

Thank you again for all your patience, we really appreciate it and thank you for using Malwarebytes.
