Web Protection won't turn on

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have Malwarebytes Premium and my Web Protection won't turn on. It keeps saying "starting" and it just sits there. If I close the Malwarebytes window, it goes back to off.

I found a forum post on the same topic and it said to run the mb-clean tool and reinstall with the latest version of Malwarebytes. I did that and first it looked like it fixed the problem, but after a while, the turn on Web Protection notification came back up and it was off again.

I have the exact same problem. First Malwarebytes wouldn't turn on web protection, so I uninstalled and reinstalled clean version. Now not only will web protection still not turn on, but when I scan it is literally done in 2 seconds, when before it would take at least a couple of minutes. I'm quite concerned about what's going on here...

From the two "hot" posts it seems like this is a recent, and critical, issue. Web protection won't turn on and scans won't start. I'd like to say that i'm a little at ease in saying that this isn't just me, but with that new ransomware crap going around I can't say that I am.

to be fair, saqiw, I've had this for a while.  I wanna say 3 years or so and this is the first real problem I've run into.  So, it could just be bad timing in your case.  It's been good for me up until now.

same for me, the software has been pretty awesome

I've had Malwarebytes for a year and it's been working fine. I think this is a recent problem from what I'm seeing in the forums.
