Malwarebytes Toolset for Mac?

Recommended Posts

I use sophos for my mac that I can actually be bothered with. Having Windows Linux and OSX running through the house can get annoying but each platform has it's own usefulness.

In my humble opinion-

The only real functionality in particular would be of most use to you on the Mac platform might be web protection. Although OSX and Linux both get viruses. Yes it's true. It is much less likely to get infected if the base system is set up properly and the root account is kept away from the user account. In a nutshell it would be nice to have a product that people trust available for OSX MAC's and for Linux. Even if it just had web blocking protection that would be an awesome start. I have tried the mobile products and although the functionality appears to be limited I personally fell better :) .

Actually, it's a myth that restricting access to root-level privileges protects you against anything. There is plenty of Mac malware out there that can infect the machine and do its damage without needing admin privileges at all.

And although web protection would be useful, and is on our future roadmap, that's not something that is relevant to techs looking for our Techbench toolset functionality for Macs. That's something for consumers, not for professional technicians looking to fix a machine that is having problems.
