After reading some of the posts here about the above-name German website that evidently is now collecting my info, I saw that one mod said that it was not malacious. Fine and Good. It is not malicious. That said, I would like to TOTALLY REMOVE it from my computer without having to try and sort through online sites that provide advanced users ways to do this.

Furthermore, I cannot figure out (just too dumb I guess) about Malwarebytes NOMENCLATURE. If MW took over adwcleaner, do I have to download that separately from the program I have purchased or NOT??? And also, my verison of MW does not say MW 3, it says this: Malwarebytes Anti-malware.Ink. [listed under properties through Windows menu).

So you tell me, what "version" do I have??? I never understand why the SIMPLEST issues that can create problems for USERS are NEVER addressed by software companies right away. I really do not.

@Clothbyte I will try to answer a few of your questions.

Adwcleaner, although owned by Malwarebytes, is a stand alone separate clean up tool. Is FREE to anyone that wishes to use it. It not needed on a regular basis. And yes it is a separate download.

Sounds like you are using Version 2 Which was calledMalwarebytes Anti-Malware. Version 3 is new and offers more protection than the old version. It is just called Malwarebytes because in the PAID Premium version it is more than just an Antimalware program.

You can get version the new version here.

As for the .bid issue. That domain hosts many advertisements some harmless many not.  The whole domain is blocked. Now I personally never see those because I use an AD blocker in my preferred browsers Firefox and Chrome. Hence I do not get the web blocks as well.

Other info on .bid and others is below.

Thank you for your answers. If I paid for MW, why didn't it either notify me of the version 3 or just automatically update it? The version I have has been merrily updating itself and said I am fully protected, etc. These things are just never CLEAR.

Anyway, I still want to get that sync.exe.bid (what a name!!) information sucking-POS off my machine. :)

It gets metered out over time. You might want to check the setting in this screenshot. You need to see if that is checked.

I suggest you install the new version. Please take note of your license key and deactivate you MB first and follow the below guide to install the new version.

** Download MB-Clean Here **

How to use it?

  1. Download the latest version of MB-Clean by clicking the link above
  2. Close all open applications
  3. Double-click and run mb-clean.exe
  4. A prompt with an option to clean up the system will appear:
    • Yes - will proceed with backing up the license key (Malwarebytes 3.x only) and initiating the cleanup process
    • No - will exit the utility
  5. Once the cleanup process is completed, a prompt will appear:
    • Yes – will proceed and post reboot you will be prompted to continue with the downloading, installation and activation of latest version of Malwarebytes 3.x
    • No – will exit the utility and you will not be prompted (post reboot) to download, reinstall and re-activate (not recommended)
      • We recommend rebooting immediately. Additionally, stopping at this step is not recommended and will most likely not resolve your issue(s).
  6. Upon reboot, a prompt will appear:
    • Yes - will download, install and activate the latest version of Malwarebytes 3.x
    • No - will exit the utility and the cleanup process is complete
      • Choose this option if you do not want to download, install and activate the latest version of Malwarebytes 3.x
    • A log file ("mb-clean-results.txt") will be on your desktop

It is technically not on your computer. Is blocking communication from an AD on a website you are viewing or in your email that has pictures enabled to be viewed.

Other than excluding it in MB, The only way to kill it is an ad blocker properly configured. I would have to ask a staff member if I am allowed to assist you with an ad blocker.
