I'm running windows 10 home. I have an old pepetual license for MBAM.

On 4/29 I installed Cybereason RansomFree 2.2.26.0 which I read about. It seemed to be running fine and it established its honeypot directories which seemed like a good idea.

On 5/3 windows updated itself. On 5/8 Cybereason wouldn't run. I reinstalled it and it seemed to be running.

On 5/11 Macrium Reflect failed to make a routine full image backup of drive C: to drive K:, a partition on a separate internal hard disk. The VSS log from that event mentions that mbamservice.exe is in the faulting application path. I have attached the c:\ProgramData\Macrium\Reflect\4BC1F550AF46888B-00-00.vsslog file which Reflect produced but I renamed it to 4BC1F550AF46888B-00-00.txt in order to have it accepted by your website.

On 5/14 (yesterday) Malwarebytes displayed an automatic warning that it could not start a service. I could not manually start MBAM. I downloaded Chameleon and ran it. It downloaded a new MBAM, installed MBAM, started MBAM and scanned automatically which quarantined a bunch of PUPS, mostly involving Acronis DiskDefrag which I almost never use, but also 2 PUPs from MindSpark which looked suspicious.

Now, (5/15), a new MBAM scan shows no infection, but I can't turn on the exploit protection. (This may be due to a conflict with McAfee which is installed free by my ISP, Optimum Cable.) In reviewing the MBAM scan logs I find automatic daily scans as scheduled until 4/29, then no automatic scans from 4/30 until 5/9, then an automatic scan on 5/10, then no automatic scans before the manual scan on 5/14 after Chameleon got MBAM running again.

Why won't exploint protection start?

What could have caused the automatic scans to stop for those two periods of 8 days and 3 days?

Do I have to begin checking every day to see that an automatic scan was done on schedule?

I have attached the j:\z\Addition.txt and j:\z\FRST.txt which were just produced by running FRST64.exe.

MBAM will not run again today. I just tried to get it running using chameleon using its help file thirteen times and it failed to find or install MBAM. I see the c:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\ directory, its size is 136.6 MB and it contains 134 files in 74 directories. Something is stopping MBAM from running!
