prototype9 Posted May 11, 2017 ID:1123982 Share Posted May 11, 2017 I believe I have malware on my system, I am trying to download malwarebytes but I keep getting "Runtime Error (at 47:120): Could not call proc." I ran rkill before opening it but it still gives me the error. Any ideas?

nikhils Posted May 12, 2017 ID:1124221 Share Posted May 12, 2017 Hello @prototype9 One quick suggestion. Can you boot into Safe mode and try to see if the install goes through? Let us know if that works. Thank you,
nikhils Posted May 12, 2017 ID:1124233 Share Posted May 12, 2017 Also from the FRST log it looks like you have been running mbam-clean which works on the older MBAM 2.x product. The latest tool is MB-Clean and that should hopefully clean up your system from any previous installations and should prompt you to install the latest MB 3.1.2.1733 product. Can you please try running the latest MB-Clean tool : https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb_clean Let us know if that worked. Thank you,
prototype9 Posted May 12, 2017 Author ID:1124315 Share Posted May 12, 2017 Neither of these has seemed to work, and the Mb-clean tool didn't do anything because my problem is I cannot download malwarebytes in the first place :/
nikhils Posted May 12, 2017 ID:1124366 Share Posted May 12, 2017 Hello @prototype9 There may be a chance that your system is infected. Lets try an different approach. 1. Lets try to download and run the Malwarebytes Chameleon tool : https://www.malwarebytes.com/chameleon/ 2. This is a stand alone tool. Unzip the file and open the Chameleon html help file. 3. Click on the Blue Chameleon#1 button. 4. This will install MBAM 2.x in a secure fashion by blocking malware tampering and also will run a threat scan. 5. Scan should detect Malware threats you have. 6. Once that is done you can then run the MB-CLean tool to upgrade to the latest MB 3.1.2.1733 product. Do let me know if the tool worked for you. Thank you
nikhils Posted May 12, 2017 ID:1124368 Share Posted May 12, 2017 One more thing when MBAM 2.x scan and possibly detects something can you please save the scan results so e can see what has affected your machine.
prototype9 Posted May 12, 2017 Author ID:1124371 Share Posted May 12, 2017 it detected 9 items but I forgot to save the results, but one of the ones i saw was called installshield, I removed them all and tried to use the cleaner. It restarted my computer and tried to download it but it still game me the same error 47:
nikhils Posted May 12, 2017 ID:1124372 Share Posted May 12, 2017 When you are saying you tried to download are you using the MB-Clean tool to download or are you going to a browser and using the https://doanload.malwarebytes.com/file/mb3 ?
prototype9 Posted May 12, 2017 Author ID:1124373 Share Posted May 12, 2017 i used the clean tool first, which got rid of the chameleon thing and prompted the download which gave me the error, then I tried to run it from the browser download and got the same error
nikhils Posted May 12, 2017 ID:1124375 Share Posted May 12, 2017 Thank you for being patient. Lets try a few more things. Can you try and run the adwcleaner : https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/ Lets check if there are any browser hijackers or unwanted PUP's causing this. This tool run will also have a log file. After you run the tool, please post the log file here. Thank you for being patient.
