Malwarebyte 3.1.2 scan takes very long

Recommended Posts

Hello,
Malwarebyte 3.1.2 scan takes very long
Why does a scan in MWB 3.1.2 takes four times as long than with 3.0.6.
After installing 3.1.2 (same hardware, same software) the scan time increased enormous.
With 3.0.6  it took a bit over 8 min. to scan 404.622 objects
With 3.1.2  it takes a bit over 24 min. to scan 405.008 objects

Yeah, we actually reduced the resources we take by 3 times, so taking 3 times as long to scan lines up pretty well. We do run comparative tests for our new scans versus our old scans, and this looks similar to what we saw in a lot of our scenarios. You could confirm this by running a manual scan and comparing it to the time it took to run a manual scan in 3.0.6. The numbers should be pretty equivalent

Here are my scan results on my W10 desktop. All scans had every thing checked. 371,000 items.

Ver 3.0.6.1469  Scheduled Scan 2:53 min CPU hit 95%

Ver 3.1.0.1716 Scheduled Scan 9:40 min CPU hit 30%

Ver 3.1.0.1716 Manual Scan Low Priority 9:16 min CPU hit 30%

Ver 3.1.0.1716 Manual Scan High Priority 3:46 min CPU hit 95%

The times of scheduled 3.0.6 and manual 3.1.2 (high) are almost equal.

The three times longer on scheduled 3.1.2 scan would be OK if MB don't slow down other programs

In both versions were you scanning archive files as well as rootkit scan? Check those settings...

We greatly reduced the resources we use in 3.1.2 for scheduled scans, so it shouldn't be slowing your computer down nearly as much as in older versions.

Can't catch a break here. The scan times decrease (wanted feature) because more system resources (CPU) are used to create fast scans. People complain about the CPU use. Now when it is reduced people complain again because scan takes longer.
