v3.1 & Safely Remove Drive Question

A possible weirdly-timed coincidence, no doubt, but IF I Uncheck all 4 Modules via the System Tray M icon does THAT do all I can to eliminate MBAM as a Suspect in not being able to Safely Remove my Western Dig Ext Drive (ie) "Close all programs and try later". Tried for 2 days & no success ........

Never was an issue with v2 and I can't think of a system change other than the v3 Upgrade that has occurred just Before this issue started. There are reasons I prefer Not to Turn-Off the computer or even re-boot to switch to a 2nd Backup Drive, so Any Suggestions / Clarifications are appreciated.

v3 Running Perfectly.

Thanks, Telos. I downloaded a Trial of USB Safely Remove, and while it showed Svchost.exe and "System" and an occasional ekern.exe (my ESET Security Suite) , a Forced Stop command produced that it [ "didn't see anything affecting the Removal and it may be Windows itself. Turn computer Off and start over". ] MBAM never showed up.

Nothing is simple anymore with computers, but I'll survive. Thanks again.

Turning of all four protection modules will unload most things, but Self-Protection may still grab on to something. To rule out Malwarebytes, you'd want to right click the system tray icon for Malwarebytes and choose Quit Malwarebytes

Just a thought, but this happens on my computer from time to time as well.... I found out that in my case if I close out of Internet Explore, I am then able to safely remove my USB drives...

WHY can't I notice things better? "Quit MBAM" DID IT.

I can live with Off / On and am really Relieved. I had given up.

I guess - dcollins - suggestion is what Telos meant, too,  but my expertise level didn't grasp that since I had missed "absorbing" the last Sys Tray choice. Thanks to both of you.

USB Safely Remove with updated software above can Safely Remove the MyPassport Ultra (1/5/15) Ext Bkup Drive I have BUT didn't with an older (4/30/13) MyPassport Drive.

I can't change my Signature without 50 Posts so I'm trying to be helpful for 14 more posts.
