Unfortunately, no.  It is supported on physical and virtual servers as well as workstations.  RDS/Terminal Services are not supported for technical reasons.

For those that may come across this post in the future, this is what the agent software's compatibility is in regards to deployment on servers. Certain Server OS's are supported by the agent software:

• Windows Server 2012/2012 R2
• Windows Small Business Server 2011
• Windows Server 2008/2008 R2
• Windows Server 2003 (32-bit only)

However, there are environment roles which are unsupported. Do not install the Anti-Malware portion of the product to a server which runs:

• Terminal Services (TS) / Remote Desktop Services (RDS)
• Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
• Windows Storage Server
• Server Core
• Citrix XenDesktop
• Citrix XenApp
• VMware View
• VMware VShield

You mention "Do not install the Anti-Malware portion of the product to a server ".  Can we install Anti-Exploit and Anti-Ransomware?

Hi @Kip, you can install the Anti-Exploit portion but Anti-Ransomware does not support server OS. Additionally, if there is a crypto event stemming from a workstation and hitting a server share, and the server had Anti-Ransomware on it, it wouldn't be able to kill the process anyway as it is running on a different machine. Protect your servers by protecting your endpoints.

Is there any forecast on supporting Remote Desktop Services in the future?  I'm having trouble protecting my servers by protecting my endpoints because my endpoints are terminal servers.

@patrfamilias RDS compatibility was fixed in MB3, MB3 became available to business product users when the cloud product released.

Hi,

we have Windows 2016 running RDS as a VM Virtual Server - we installed MALWAREBYTES and since doing that the VMHOST has crashed twice.

The client has a MWB4B license and that is the version we have installed.

Are there any specific steps that need to be taken to install the software ?

What product version of Malwarebytes are you using @MarkieVee?

If it is Anti-Malware 1.80.2.1012, with or without Malwarebytes Management Console 1.8.0.3443, this version is not compatible.

If you are on the cloud portal version, featuring Malwarebytes 3.4.5.2470, that version is compatible with RDS.

Just a follow up on this topic. We have RDS 2016 running on a Windows 2016 VM (esxi 6.7 host) and have had MB AM (MEE) 1.80.2.1012 installed for over 7 months without issue.

However (and this might not be the root-cause as I'm still investigating) since updating the MB database recently the VM server has blue-screened a number of times.

Can you confirm if this is still incompatible?

It is still incompatible, it's also a surprise to me you were able to run it so long without an issue. The Cloud product's MB3 version does support RDS role.
