MBAM vs 2 & 3 installed/MBAM Clean questions

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I am in the process of helping an OP recover from the Windows failed to load due to the MBAMSwissArmy.sys  service. After removing the service successfully I noticed in her Additions.txt log that she has both MBAM versions 2 & 3 installed. I want to uninstall vs 2 and have her keep vs 3.

My question:
It would be best to have her uninstall both versions, run MBAM Clean then have her reinstall MBAM V3.0, won't it?

Thank you,
Donna :)

Yes it would be better for uninstall both (from control panel) reboot if asked.  After that run the new mb-clean tool and then install the latest MB3 version..... If you like you can just simply run the mb-clean tool only and it should remove all versions for you automatically, you can verify that after the reboot.  Below are the instructions I normally supply for folks on how to do it...

Let's try this first.... (It is recommended that you de-activate your Malwarebytes first before un-installing or using the clean removal tool - the tool can only backup the license info for MB3 so if you have MBAM v1 or v2 you have to de-activate it manually)

  1. Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - Malwarebytes mb-clean tool (NOTE: After uninstalling with the mb-claen tool you will be asked to reboot.  Once you reboot it will ask you if you want to re-install Malwarebytes, you can select YES or you can download the latest version (currently v3.0.6 CU4.1) to re-install from HERE)
  2. If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and attach to your next reply the 4 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 4 logs are: mbam logs zipped, FRST.txt, Addition.txt and mb-checkResult.txt)
  3. NOTE: More info about the latest Malwarebytes 3.0.6 CU4.1 HERE; MB 3 User Guide ONLINE; MB 3 User Guide PDF; MB 3 FAQ: Malwarebytes 3.0 - Frequently Asked Questions

Please let us know how it goes.

Hi Firefox,

Thank you. I'll let you know how it goes.

One more question if I may, please. How do I turn off this WYSIWYG editor?

Ugh! Really? :( .... Now how am I supposed to "swoop in" and steal, oops I mean, copy canned speeches to add to my collection?  :P

I tried to get a copy of yours, Firefox but was unable to grab it in code form and I just didn't have the time to sit and retype the code, links etc.

Is there a canned speech database other than this one that I am overlooking?

Believe it or not, to check my code I have to go to another forum and paste it there, fix what needs fixing there, then come pack and paste it here... its a real pain...

If you want the above code to use... here you go...
