Malwarebytes scans nothing

Recommended Posts

From your logs you are running an older version of Malwarebytes "controllers version" : "1.0.50" (latest version is "controllers version" : "1.0.103").  Lets get the latest version installed, simply follow the instructions below which more than likely will correct your issues.  If you still have issues, you will have to re-run the tools and provide new logs.

Let's try this first.... (It is recommended that you de-activate your Malwarebytes first before un-installing or using the clean removal tool - the tool can only backup the license info for MB3 so if you have MBAM v1 or v2 you have to de-activate it manually)

  1. Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - Malwarebytes mb-clean tool (NOTE: After uninstalling with the mb-claen tool you will be asked to reboot.  Once you reboot it will ask you if you want to re-install Malwarebytes, you can select YES or you can download the latest version (currently v3.0.6 CU4.1) to re-install from HERE)
  2. If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and attach to your next reply the 4 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 4 logs are: mbam logs zipped, FRST.txt, Addition.txt and mb-checkResult.txt)
  3. NOTE: More info about the latest Malwarebytes 3.0.6 CU4.1 HERE; MB 3 User Guide ONLINE; MB 3 User Guide PDF; MB 3 FAQ: Malwarebytes 3.0 - Frequently Asked Questions

Please let us know how it goes.

Thank You,

Since MB3 was released I re-installed the latest version (or mini version 3.x) several times, each time another issue comes up.

Am I going to have to keep on re-installing the latest mini version each time for it to work, otherwise one thing or another will go wrong? This kind of thing never happened with MBAM 2, when I had it older (mini) versions worked fine.

When I buy a new computer with a more recent OS can I expect similar issues to keep on coming up with MB3 as well?

Right now all I can say is they are releasing versions because they are fixing bugs that are reported.... so having to update is needed to correct those issues.  The bugs that are reported are not happening to very person either.

For now, you can either install the new versions as they are released, or when you get notified through the MB3 program.

As for a new computer, it should work just fine on your new computer, but without knowing what other protections it may have pre-installed it may have to be looked at as well.

Hard to say...

Do you know why for months following the release of version 3 there's still one bug after another, and one issue following the next? (Earlier versions never had these problems.) This program used to be reliable.

I feel your pain, like you I am only a customer and I too have to deal with the bugs.  I do not work for Malwarebytes so I could not tell you more about the bugs and their release, I am only a volunteer here on the forums.

Unfortunately, bugs are fact of life for every single program ever written bar none. Windows has thousands of bugs that are fixed and pushed out month after month for the past 20 years. If vendors were not fixing bugs, then I'd be more worried. We take feedback daily from many resources and if we're able to verify the issue we work on fixing it.

Thank you for your continued support

I know that. I didn't direct that question at you personally and no offense was intended :).

I just meant to ask if you were aware why Malwarebytes is having trouble since the release of version 3.

Too true. Nonetheless, MBAM 2 was relatively stable and reliable, while MB3 has been one big mess for many.
