Why did MBAM 2.x (Free license) not automatically update to MBAM 3.x?

Curious about my old case with MBAM, why did MBAM 2.x (Free license) not automatically update to MBAM 3.x?

My MBAM 2.x is in all default settings.

Is it because of the free license?

But, it is irrelevant now. I uninstalled MBAM 2 then downloaded & installed MBAM 3 manually.

If you were using the free version AND your Premium trial had expired, there are no automatic program updates, signature updates or real-time protection.  After you downloaded and installed Version 3, you should have automatically started a Premium trial which is valid for 14 days.  After that time, you must buy a subscription (license) or you will revert back to the free version.

Well I have the paid version and version 2 did not auto update to 3. I had to down load and install it.

The update from 2.x to 3.x is being metered out to users over time. You can install it manually if you'd like if you want 3.x sooner
