Getting Pretty Sick of MWB

Recommended Posts

Months of issues with protection randomly stopping, often with the added issue of refusing to restart, are getting very tiresome. You only have to look at the number of threads in this forum to see how big a problem this is, and MWB's apparent inability to solve the problem gives real cause for concern.

As I'm typing this, Ransomware protection turned itself off. I restarted it and now Malware Protection has turned off.

And please don't give me any bullshit answers about running mb-check and posting the log. None of this ever happened before v3.0, and there are just too many people having the same continual problems for it to be anything other than a massive issue with the software.

I no longer have any faith in MWB or the developers, on the basis that I can never be sure it is actually protecting me from anything.

Of course, if I were using a pirated copy, I'd probably get a free licence to make up for everything.

The non-bullshit reply:

If you don't post your logs, you're setting yourself and anyone trying to help you up for failure.

There isn't a "massive issue" with the software. There are MILLIONS of us running Malwarebytes 3.0 with ZERO issues. I am one of the millions.

If you were using a pirated copy I would hope you wouldn't get any assistance whatsoever.

So you think that all those who have had issues with v3.x are just unlucky?

And don't think that the number of posts on the issue here even scratches the surface of the number of people having problems. People have been posting logs, others have been posting solutions, and many others have been following the threads without ever posting. And yet the whole thing is treated like something trivial with no hint of a permanent solution in sight

Fixing one post at a time isn't the answer. The number of people with the problem shows it isn't an issue with anything other than MWB.

By the way, I'd also hope nobody with a pirated copy would ever get assistance. Then again, I'd also hope those people wouldn't all be given free licences whilst the rest of us are paying, but I was wrong then too.

Take a deep breath and come back in a couple of weeks. That is what I did, problem was fixed. They are coming out with updates. You just have to

look in the forum and not wait until a new version comes out through automatic update which can take longer.

I never had any problems with Version 2, but many others did.

This was only your second post. Couldn't have been an important problem.

That's what I did after having a disastrous experience with v3. I soon realized the MB just isn't the program I purchased my life time license for. It's grown to complex and duplicates protections I already have licensed software for and have zero issues with.

I wish that MB would produce a light version without all of the complexity or at least be able to disable it and use the parts you need. I have found something along those lines but my life time license expenditure for MB was a waste in the end as I am now paying for the new product I use. My choice of course.

However, I am ever the optimist and will be checking back to see if there is anything I feel may be of use for me in the future.

And therein lies part of the problem. I've been following all the threads and replies on here, which always solved the problem only for it to return. That I waited until now to post shows how much of an issue it now is, not how little.

As it stands, there are sticky threads for all manner of problems and potential solutions, including automatic updates not being applied. One would hope that software which has been around for as long as MWB, even as v3, would by by now be stable.

Hello,

We have a new release which fixes a lot of issues around the Real time protections not starting or randomly turning off.

Please check the forum post below and kindly upgrade to the latest build.

Thank you,

I ran mb-clean (again) last night and allowed it to reinstall v3.0.6. v3.0.4 was the version removed, as auto-update hadn't applied the new version(s).

Fingers crossed, all modules are still active,

I'm still not convinced that the problem won't show itself again, but we'll see. Time will tell.

I feel your pain..After giving it a go with 3.05 on my nine PCs and having multiple problems but the one overriding problem that existed on all was that MB3 takes a lot of the computer's resources (Which they're aware of and say they are working on it)...You see the problem is when all your developers and testers are on high end systems that's not really representative of the average user in the field...We're not all gamers on the latest whatever with 32 gigs of RAM...My network consists of anything from Atom processors to I7...The new MB3 was not designed to run on older equipment (as it exists now)...My network is happily running back on MB2...Somewhere along the way they decided that they need to make the new MB3 this all encompassing program...Really what a lot of people wanted was just some extra Malware protection in addition to what they already use (In my case KIS). So I will let them continue to do their thing and let others beta test for them...I will continue to use MB2 until they no longer support it...At that time I will give MB3 one more shot (I'll image my network PCs first before doing that)...If it's still a basket case of issues requiring workarounds on every computer then I'll simply ditch it...I agree with what another person said in this forum that there really needs to be a "light" version basically just an updated MB2 which would continue the extra Malware focused protection in addition to what people use (Kaspersky, Bitdefender, Webroot, Norton, etc. etc.) but I doubt they'll do that.

That's the thing, it's just too wide a problem to be blamed on individual machines.

As it happens, my PC is actually pretty well specced. I build my own machines, so I know it's not underpowered in any way.

I agree, and am much surprised that the programmers have been unable to fix this problem. That is why I have given up on this problem being fixed. The problem is not with a couple of users, but a number have complained. I have decided you are unable to fix it.

So far Kaspersky has prevented any infections, and maybe MBAM has helped.
