Voip drops, and unstable connection

Recommended Posts

I've started noticing a problem that every VOIP service I use (Skype, steam, origin), my calls are getting dropped after couple of minutes.

In Skype it's dropping after 5 minutes exactly, and in steam and origin it can vary between 1 minute to 10 minutes.

Skype is even having problems connecting to the internet sometimes, although my wifi is working just fine.

More over I'm starting to notice unstable connection in some platforms. When I play Battlefield 1 I experience disconnection from the server very frequently.

My internet connection is normal according to a scan I did in http://www.speedtest.net/, Around 40MB download speed, 3MB upload speed, and 15ms ping (My normal benchmarks).

Other internet involving stuff, such as browsing the web and viewing videos seems fine.

I see you recently upgraded to Windows 10 version 1703 (Creators) - does that coincide with when this issue started?  A few people  on the Microsoft Windows 10 forum have reported internet connection issues with this update.

Does this issue go away if you disable Malwarebytes?

This issue does not go away when I disable Malwarebytes. Also I don't remember the exact date I've upgraded, I just let me PC download updates when it needs and doesn't pay much attention to it. So can't tell if it's from the time I've upgraded to that version, but I do remember that this issue is currently about 1 month old *top*.

Also I've noticed that when browsing the web I'm noticing that the browser sometimes fail to load and after 1~2 seconds it reloads properly. The error the browser present in this 1~2 seconds frametime is DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET

Someone else may spot something in your logs.

Meanwhile, is the computer connected via Ethernet or WiFi?

I suggest that you go through the various steps suggested here:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/10741/windows-10-fix-network-connection-issues
(If you choose Network Reset, you wait 5 minutes for the computer to restart.)

I already tried most of the above but it didn't seem to work.

I'm using WiFi.

After some investigation about this windows 10 version 1703 Creator, I've noticed people started having troubles with programs showing gibberish instead of ascii/unicode letters. I've noticed this once to about the same time the network issue started. I think my problem really have to do with this window version, what do you think should I do?

Check your video driver is up to date.

I notice you use CCleaner. It can corrupt the Windows registry.

If you updated to Creators version within the last 15 days you can roll back to your previous version then try updating it in again in a few weeks.
Start > Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Go back....

If you can' roll back, run the two system checks DISM and SFC and see if any issues arise

Otherwise you could try a clean install of Creators

Others may have suggestions. But since this appears to be a Windows 10 Creators issue, you should seek help on the Microsoft forum
